What "secure PDF tracking" actually means
There's a lot of hand-waving in the document-tracking space. Products promise to tell you exactly who read your file, as if a link could reach through the screen and identify a person.
It can't, and we'd rather be straight about it. When you share a gated link with VoxaDocs, every open is logged: the time, the device, and an approximate location derived from the viewer's IP address. That's genuinely useful — you can see that your proposal was opened three times from two countries this morning.
What it isn't is identity. An anonymous link tells you about the event, not the human. If you need to know who opened it, you turn on email verification, and now each open is tied to an email the viewer entered themselves.
Same idea with the map: an IP puts a view in a city, approximately. It's a strong signal, not a GPS fix. Being clear about that is the difference between a tool people trust and one they quietly stop believing.
